Following an invitation given by the zoo direction the lecture took place in the auditory of the newly inaugurated Exotic House. More than 70 people received an impression about the enormous biodiversity of this small country which belongs to the 10 countries in the world with the highest biodiversity. Spectacular pictures on landscape, people, fauna, and flora as well as diverse hazards (e.g. oil exploitation, logging, shrimp ponds) provided an insight into Ecuador. Afterwards there was the possibility for a discussion with the lecturer. In the future the Zoological Garden of Karlsruhe intends to participate actively in the already existing cooperation between Mindo Lindo and the Karlsruher Energie- und Klumschutzagentur in their Puntos-Verdes-Project. Assistant zoo director Dr. Clemens Becker had visited Mindo Lindo last year and discussed the intended cooperation with Pedro Peñafiel and Heike Brieschke.
